AUSTIN — A man is dead following a vehicular collision on Nov. 29 in Hays County.
John Paul Ramirez, 45, was involved in a “road rage type incident” with Charles Allen Rice, 40, outside of their vehicles on US 290 and Nutty Brown Road, said court documents, when Rice struck Ramirez in his face, causing him to fall into the eastbound lane, where he was then struck head on by a vehicle. After being transported to a nearby Austin hospital, he was pronounced dead.
The Hays County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged Rice with manslaughter, a second-degree felony. He was released on a $25,000 bond on Nov. 30.
DPS will be conducting the crash investigation.
