DRIPPING SPRINGS — On Friday, April 4, in a 2-1 win in District 26 over the visiting Bowie High School Bulldogs, Dripping Springs Lady Tigers softball (19-6-1 overall; 8-1 district) scored in the bottom of the sixth inning to break up a 1-1 tie.
Tatum Green, who pitched the complete game, and the Lady Tigers defense held the Bulldogs (12-7 overall; 4-4 district) scoreless in the top of the seventh. Lorelei Gamble homered and Green was two for three at the plate with an RBI. On the base pads, the Lady Tigers were three for three in stolen bases with Morgan Riley, Kenna Riley and Green each credited with a stolen base.
Prior to that, in an 11-1 win over home team Austin High School April 1, Dripping Springs softball catcher Gamble hit three home runs in the game; it was her third game this season to hit three home runs in a game. Gamble was walked once and credited with 8 RBIs in the win. Sadie Bradford, who also homered and hit a double, pitched the complete game. Gamble has a .612 batting average and has hit 19 of the team’s 23 home runs on the season.
Additionally, Dripping Springs has 101 stolen bases on 106 attempts. Fifteen players have stolen at least one base and four players have steals in double digits. Green is 19 for 19, Emma Phillips is 17 for 17, Morgan Riley is 14 for 16 and Kenna Riley is 11 for 12.
The Lady Tigers play at Lake Travis High School (15-8-1 overall; 7-1 district) April 8 and will host Del Valle High School at 7 p.m. Friday, April 11.
