Keynote Speaker retired LT. Colonel Jessica Dunn, U.S. Army, explained how Memorial Day is often triggering for veterans, but that it is important to remember those who died: “It is honorable to remember those that have sacrificed for our freedom. For love is sacrifice. They so loved us, they paid the ultimate sacrifice.”

The Aquarena Springs Symphonic Band plays as the audience sits in silence for the wreaths, which honors the fallen. The wreaths were placed by San Marcos Police Department Chief Stan Standridge, U.S. Air Force, AMVETS Post 104 member Sylvester Villarreal, U.S. Army ranger, American GI Forum member Jerry DeLeon, U.S. Army and VFW Post 3413 member Stephanie Brown, U.S. Army.
