KYLE — Hays CISD announced Josh Boothe as the new Lehman High School theatre director May 29.
According to a news release, Booth has more than 22 years of experience in theatre education and production and is known for transforming school stages and theatre programs into vibrant centers of student creativity, collaboration and community pride.
Boothe graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and has dedicated his career to building impactful, student-centered theatre programs across diverse school communities. He most recently served as a theatre director in Comal ISD and previously served as a theatre director in Hays CISD at Wallace Middle School.
Throughout his career, Boothe has directed more than 35 productions, ranging from dramatic classics, like “Hamlet” and “Booby Trap” to modern musicals, such as “Mary Poppins,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Newsies,” “Aladdin,” “Sound of Music” and “Frozen.”
He was also the creator of Fright Fest, a large-scale immersive Halloween theatre experience that became a beloved community event.
Now leading the Lehman theatre program, Boothe is excited to continue the Lobo tradition of excellence, while building bold, inclusive and engaging theatre experiences that reflect the heart of the Lehman community, said the news release.
