KYLE — At the Tuesday, June 3, Kyle City Council meeting, an updated voting district map was approved as part of the redistricting process that began in June 2024.
The city of Kyle is divided into three single-member city council districts — districts 2, 4 and 6 — and four at-large city council districts — mayor and districts 1, 3, and 5 —for election purposes.
Every 10 years, the redistricting process takes place in response to U.S. Census data. During this process, single-member district boundaries are updated to ensure each has approximately the same number of residents.
The newly drawn lines hold the following Voting Age Population (VAP):
• District 2 - 10,941
• District 4 - 11,962
• District 6 - 10,821

City of Kyle residents were able to view the proposed redistricting maps and provide feedback online and in-person at Kyle City Hall.

• Nov. 19, 2024: Bickerstaff presented Plan A, along with the resolution setting the redistricting criteria. Council approved the resolution, but requested that Bickerstaff review the growth in the city of Kyle, since the census and provide feedback on changes to Plan A to address that growth.
• March 4: Bickerstaff presented Plan A, noting that available data on population growth in the time since the 2020 Census shows that all areas of Kyle are growing relatively uniformly.
• March 29: City council and Bickerstaff held a workshop to discuss any requested changes to the proposed district boundaries and recommended changes, which created proposed Plan B.
• April 15: The city of Kyle held a public hearing to review the proposed Plan A and Plan B Voting District Maps.
• May 27: City council approved Plan B Voting District Map on first reading.
• June 3: City council approved Plan B Voting District Map on second and final reading.
The new redistricting maps will go into effect immediately. City of Kyle voters are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new district lines heading into the November 2025 city council election.
