Local dignitaries, staff and community members were invited to the city of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department's groundbreaking for the All-Wheel Skatepark, to be located at Gregg-Clarke Park, Friday, Oct. 24. After a few brief speeches, city staff, along with Kyle City Council members and Hays County commissioner Michelle Cohen, gathered to ceremoniously turn up the dirt. The approximately 31,000-square-foot amenity is anticipated to be completed in late in the summer of 2026.

Parks and Recreation director David Lopez speaks about the history of the $3.4 million project, which will be funded from Kyle’s 2020 bond package, along with a match from Hays County. “When I first started with Parks and Recreation, [there was] a $1 million budget for this project, which was what was originally allocated, and council said, ‘You know what? That's not good enough. Let's triple the budget and triple the footprint and do this thing right for the residents of Kyle and make this one of the best skate parks in the nation,’” he said.
