VERO BEACH, FLORIDA — Two Dripping Springs High School softball players represented Central Texas on a national stage during the USA Softball Women’s National Team High Performance Program (HPP) National Selection Event, held Dec. 4-7 in Vero Beach, Florida.
Dripping Springs High School students Sadie Bradford, sophomore, and Lorelei Gamble, junior, were both selected to compete at the event, which is an invite-only showcase that serves as the primary identification camp for future USA Softball Women’s National Team players.
Athletes must first earn an invitation by excelling at one of the competitive regional qualifiers held across the country earlier in the year. Only the top players from those regional events receive the call to attend the national event.
Gamble delivered one of the biggest moments of the camp when she crushed a grand slam, showcasing her power. She went .714 with two homeruns and 7 RBIs in three games.
Bradford earned special recognition from the USA Softball coaching staff for her elite-level defense (eight put outs and zero errors), power at the plate and versatility, as she played six different positions during the event.
Bradford and Gamble are proud to wear USA across their chests and feel honored to represent not only their high school, but the entire Dripping Springs community and the great state of Texas on the national stage, according to their parents.
