DRIPPING SPRINGS —The Dripping Springs Lady Tigers soccer team secured a 2-1 win over the Westwood High School Warriors Thursday, March 19, in a University Interscholastic League 6A Division II Bi-District playoff matchup.
Westwood entered the contest with a 10-3-2 record, while the Lady Tigers brought an impressive 9-0-2 mark into postseason play. Both teams showcased strong defensive play throughout the first half, keeping the match scoreless heading into halftime.

The Lady Tigers regrouped during the break and came out energized in the second half. Midfielder Isabella Guerrero delivered a pinpoint assist to Bailey Stephenson, who found the back of the net to give the Lady Tigers a 1–0 lead.
Westwood responded with persistence and capitalized on a scoring opportunity later in the half to even the match at 1–1, setting up a tense finish.
With the clock winding down, Guerrero once again created a scoring opportunity, this time assisting Brooke Greenville, who scored what proved to be the game-winning goal. The Lady Tigers’ defense then stepped up in the closing minutes, holding firm against repeated Warrior attacks to preserve the lead.
When the final whistle sounded, the Lady Tigers secured a 2-1 victory and claimed the Bi-District Championship.
Following the match, Lady Tigers head coach Bailey Perrine praised Westwood’s performance, noting they were a very strong and well-prepared team with a clear game plan. Coach Perrine added that the Lady Tigers stayed disciplined, executed their own strategy effectively and, ultimately, earned the win through teamwork and determination.
With the victory, the Lady Tigers advanced to the Area Round of the UIL playoffs, where they faced Sotomayor High School Tuesday, March 24, at Lehnhoff Stadium. However, the results were not available at press time.
