The Buda Police Department was one of many agencies nationwide to partner with the Drug Enforcement Association to take part in the National Prescription Take Back Day Saturday, April 25, seeing a total collection of nearly 200 pounds of medication. "We wish to thank all those who came by our DEA Drug Take Back event on Saturday. We heard from residents who said they have been holding onto the medications for years and didn’t know what to do with them,” said community affairs officer Matt Schima. “These drugs will stay out of the hands of those that don’t need them, off our streets and out of our water ways. We were happy to partner with the Drug Enforcement Administration to fulfill this need in our community and look forward to hosting another event in the future.”

The public was invited to participate in the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the department, located at 405 E. Loop St. Suite 200, Buda. Those who were unable to make the event can still use the dropoff box in the lobby, which is available during normal business hours.
