First responders, Kiwanis Club partner for supply drive

In an effort to continue aiding the community to the best of their abilities, the Kyle Fire Department and Kyle, Buda Kiwanis Club, along with the nonprofit Unforgettable Families and Friends, Hays County ESD #5, the Kyle Area Senior Zone, Buda Police Department, Kyle Police Department and more, are holding their annual school supply drive through the summer months.

No injuries after train, car crash

At approximately 8:07 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, the Buda Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle stuck on the train tracks at the crossing at South Loop 4 and West Goforth Road (near Buda Mill & Grain). A gray 2022 Nissan Altima, driven by a 54-year-old unnamed male, had pulled off South Loop 4 onto the railroad tracks and a train was rapidly approaching.

Police provide update on officer-involved shooting

BUDA — At 3:59 a.m. on Sept. 5, a Buda police officer conducted a traffic stop at the 1500 block of IH-35 due to suspicious circumstances and an uninsured vehicle. While being questioned, the individual first allegedly provided false identification and then, when told to stay inside the vehicle, stepped out and pointed a gun at the officer, according to the Buda Police Department. It was then that the officer fired at the suspect and began an on-foot pursuit.

HAYS COUNTY — Residents and visitors can now access crime and arrest data for all of Hays County on one platform, called Citizens Connect. Hosted by Tyler Technologies, the system is the first in Texas to create a system in which all law enforcement agencies can share data, according to a Hays County press release.
