DRIPPING SPRINGS — The Dripping Springs High School baseball team hosted the Vista Ridge High School Rangers Friday, May 1, in game two of the Bi-District playoff series in the 6A Division II of the University Interscholastic League (UIL).
This follows the Tigers traveling to Cedar Park Thursday, April 30, for game one, where they secured a 9-1 victory.
The Tigers played game two on Friday on a cold and wet night. The rain had stopped earlier in the evening and the game went on as scheduled. The game was close with a 0-0 score going into the bottom of the sixth inning. Tiger Blake Cox pitched another outstanding game and the defense was stellar with only 1 error.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Tigers rallied and put runners in scoring position and had five runs crossing the plate, ultimately winning 5-0 over the Rangers.
After the game, Tiger Jake Pardue said the batter before him was walked with four balls and he knew a fastball was coming and he was going to be ready for the pitch. He also credited his teammates for the support and game winning enthusiasm.
The Tigers will play Brandeis High School at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at Northside Field #2 in San Antonio and then, at 7 p.m. Friday, May 8, at DSHS. If a third game is needed, it will be in Seguin Saturday, May 9.
