Angela Burchfield, founder, head director and producer at Burchfield Educational Theatre holds back tears as her business is named Up & Coming Business of the Year at the 2026 Buda Business Appreciation Breakfast. Hosted by the Greater Buda Chamber of Commerce and the Buda Economic Development Corporation (EDC), the May 7 event recognized businesses in Buda for various awards.

Hays County Emergency Services districts No. 2 and No. 8 were named the Community Partnership of the Year. "Without their collaboration, [the H-E-B] project simply would not have come to fruition," said Monica Davidson, executive director of the chamber of commerce.

Commercial real estate broker Megan Flake, right, who was recognized with the Game-Changer Award, embraces Buda EDC business engagement manager Jacquie Martinez. "Every once in a while a project comes along that truly changes the trajectory of a community and this person's effort helped do just that," said chamber executive director Monica Davidson.
