Luisa C. Garza, aged 84, passed away leaving a legacy of faith, laughter, and devotion to her family. Born on July 2, 1941, in Robstown, Texas, to Jose and Isabel Cisneros, Luisa lived a life filled with joy, music, and deep community connections. She shared 59 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Ireneo "Ed" Garza, whom she wed on October 1, 1966. As a proud military spouse, she dedicated herself to supporting her husband throughout his dedicated service in the United States Air Force.
Luisa was a vibrant, outgoing soul who loved to dance, sing, and bring people together. Her home was a sanctuary filled with her beloved angels and images of the Virgen de Guadalupe. She never left the house without her lipstick and always wore her cherished necklace featuring the medalla de la Virgen. Known for her love of shopping, especially when her sisters were in town, she brought energy into every room-and no mariachi song was complete without her famous, spirited "grito."
A woman of many talents, Luisa worked varied roles throughout her life, including as a cook and a school clinic assistant. Cooking was her true passion and an expression of her love. She delighted in preparing elaborate meals like Chicken Cordon Bleu for family gatherings and faithfully cooked breakfast for parishioners after Sunday masses. Her devotion to her faith was central to her life; she was an active, dedicated member of the Guadalupanas at Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Maria Guadalupe "Lupita" Garza; her parents, Jose and Isabel Cisneros; her brothers, Gilberto and Vidal Cisneros; and her sisters, Aurora Roque and Alvina Gutierrez.
Her memory will be cherished forever by her surviving family: her husband, Ireneo "Ed" Garza; her daughter, Lydia and her husband Ricardo Flores; her son, Erineo "Ed" Garza, Jr.; her sisters, Rebecca Garcia and Elvira Flores; and a large, loving network of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind a proud legacy in her seven grandchildren, Antonio Garza, Ricardo Flores, Marco Flores, Nicholas Garza, Alyssa Martinez, Veronica Flores-Greer, and Aidan Garza, as well as 12 adoring great-grandchildren.
Honoring Luisa as pallbearers will be her beloved grandsons: Antonio Garza, Ricardo Flores, Marco Flores, Nicholas Garza and Aidan Garza, along with her great nephews Ayden Gonzalez, Jacob Martinez and Mateo Balle.
