Wimberley Lady Texans claim TexFest Champion title

The Wimberley High School Texans volleyball team hosted its annual TexFest tournament Thursday, Aug. 13, through Saturday, Aug. 15, and claimed the championship for the third year in a row.

Over the course of the three-day tournament, the Lady Texans defeated nine different teams, including Blanco High School, Round Rock Christian Academy, New Braunfels Christian Academy, JW Nixon High School, Stockdale High School, Mineral Wells High School, Hill Country Christian Academy, Aubrey High School and, finally, Greenhill School.

The wins brought the team’s overall record for the season to 10-0.

Following a home game against Cedar Park High School at press time Tuesday, Aug. 18, the Lady Texans will participate in a tournament at Glen Rose High School over the weekend. The team’s next home game will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, when it takes on Bowie High School.

The ball is set by sophomore Trinity Laney (No. 12), who had 68 kills during the weekend and was named the tournament’s most valuable player, during the game against Round Rock Christian Academy.
