On Friday, Sept. 11, the City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department hosted a 9/11 observance ceremony at Heroes Memorial Park. Along with city representatives, members of AMVETS #115, Ladies Auxiliary #115, VFW #12058 and the Kyle police and fire departments spoke at the event.
The flag is lowered to half-staff during the playing of Taps.

“Sept. 12 was the day that people gave blood. Sept. 12 was the day that people united. Sept. 12 was the day that we all treated each other just a little more special and just like a little bit better neighbors … We are remarkably good neighbors when the circumstances force us to remember we're neighbors,” said Colonel Jeff Adiling. “I'm going to mourn again today. I'm going to celebrate the heroes, and tomorrow, I'm going to wake up and say, ‘Today is September 12th,’ and get up and do something about it.”
