Two suspects that fled law enforcement on Old Fitzhugh Road Saturday night are in custody, along with the driver of the vehicle in connection with shots fired at the patrol car of a Hays County Deputy Sheriff.
A pursuit occurred after the deputy attempted a traffic stop on a 1999 red Toyota passenger car around 9:30 p.m.
The vehicle stopped briefly before fleeing. Several shots were reportedly fired in the direction of the pursuing deputy. No one was injured.
Deputies pursued the vehicle to near the intersection of U.S. Hwy 281 and Hwy. 290 in Blanco County, where it crashed, and took one person into custody. Two others fled.
The Blanco County Department of Emergency management, in a post late Saturday, described the two as one male and one female, who were to be considered armed an dangerous, saying they had last been seen in the area of Miller Creek RV Park.
“Please lock your doors and report any suspicious activity to 911,” the department posted around 11 p.m.
At 8 a.m. Sunday, that department posted that both suspects were in custody, thanks in part to Blanco County utilizing the “Reverse 911” system calling all landlines in a specific area. The post also urged residents to register their cell phones to receive Reverse 911 alerts through warncentraltexas.org.
Hays County Sheriff Gary Cutler has scheduled a press conference for Sunday afternoon to provide more details into the aggravated assault on a public servant.
