In a game that came down to the wire, the Dripping Springs Tiger football team was able to defeat Kerrville Tivy at home 14-0 Friday.
Despite turning over the ball via two interceptions and two fumbles lost within five drives in the first half, the Tigers were able to shut out the Antlers in both teams’ season openers.

Dripping Springs lone offensive score came on a 70-yard drive in the 3rd quarter with junior running back Preston Alford punching in the ticket with a 2-yard run.
The game came down to the final minutes with sophomore defensive end Johnny Martinez recovering and running a fumble 15 yards for a defensive touchdown with 1:35 remaining on the game clock.
Leading the way on defense were senior lineback Luke Lawyer with 11 tackles and junior defensive back Shel Hudson with 9 tackles. Overall the defense accounted for 7 tackles for loss, and two recovered fumbles.
The Tigers managed 261 yards of offense with Alford rushing for 77 yards on 12 carries.
An additional brightside was the punting for Dripping Springs. Senior utility player Cameron O’Bannon managed to average 49 yards per punt on 3 attempts while additionally having a career high of 59 yards.
Coming up this week, the Dripping Springs Tigers will be heading over to Shelton Stadium to take on county rival, Les Goad’s Hays High Rebels. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
