A pair of incumbent Hays CISD trustees vying for reelection have outspent their opponents as the lead-up to the May 4 school board election continues.
District 4 trustee and Board President Merideth Keller and District 5 trustee and Vice President Esperanza Orosco have spent a combined $1,800 so far toward their campaigns, according to 30-day campaign finance reports filed April 4.
In the District 4 race, Keller has spent $1,006.31, which has gone toward political signage. Funding for those expenses, which were made during a reporting period from Jan. 16 to March 25, came from a pair of loans Keller and her husband had taken out in mid-March. Keller has no more money left in her war chest.
