DSHS Winterguard earns bronze at international championships
The Dripping Springs High School Varsity Winterguard was awarded the Scholastic Open Class Bronze Medal at the Winter Guard International Championships in Dayton, Ohio, April 6. In a class of 50 top teams from around the nation, the Tiger Varsity Winterguard earned a score of 96.1, which was good enough for third place overall. Dripping Springs was .15 points away from second place team Arvin High (CA) at 96.25. The first-place team in the division was Fisher High School (IN) with a score of 97.55.


Winter percussion team earns state silver medal
Dripping Springs High Winter Percussion team tapped its way to a silver medal at the 2019 Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC) Percussion/Winds State Championships April 6. DSHS competed in the Percussion Scholastic A event, one of 11 classes at the competition. Dripping Springs scored an 89.6875; the first-place O’Connor High School Indoor Percussion team scored 92.975. The TCGC Championships were held at Reed Arena at Texas A&M University.


Jason Dye directs the Tiger Winter Percussion team. Also honored at the event was parent Diana Perry, who was selected as the 2019 TCGC Volunteer of the Year.
