WIMBERLEY - Alexis Pointe Senior Living and The Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance group, together known as the Mural Committee, reached a fundraising goal of $5,000 for a public art project on a silo tank on Alexis Pointe’s property, bringing it closer to completion.
Artists who were interested in the project submitted their names and portfolios earlier this week. The Mural Committee will determine the winning design July 21 and announce the winning artist in early August. The chosen artist will then receive $3,000.
“We are going to work with the artist’s schedule and would like to start our project in the fall when the weather cools down,” said Katy Starr, Community Relations Director of Alexis Pointe.
WVACA also partnered with ACE Hardware and the city of Wimberley to help provide the new beautiful, local and creative view for the Alexis Pointe residents and people of Wimberley.
The mural will be painted on the silo in front of Alexis Pointe, which is 110 ft. in circumference and 6.5 feet tall, located at 14100 Ranch Rd 12 Ste 1, Wimberley, TX 78676.
“The goal of this project is to provide a beautiful, public art piece that will be enjoyed as the new view for Alexis Pointe senior residents,” Starr said. “This mural will eventually be on a map route for tourists and locals as well.”
Although the fundraising goal has been met, anyone interested in contributing to the public art project can still donate at wimberleyarts.org/donate/. Donors may also send a check to the WVACA at this address: PO Box 608, Wimberley TX 78676. Checks should be made out to "Wimberley Valley Arts & Cultural Alliance" and state the reason as ‘Alexis Pointe Mural’.
