Staff Report

HAYS COUNTY -- Several communities are being upgraded to high risk for COVID-19 -- Hays County is one of them.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has COVID-19 Community Levels to help communities decide what prevention steps need to be taken based on the latest data. Levels can be low, medium or high and are determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area.

Precautions for high risk include wearing a mask indoors in public, staying up-to-date on vaccines and getting tested when symptoms arise. Additional precautions may be needed for those at high risk for several illnesses.
