Lehman opens district play with a bang Friday as they host one of the more prolific offenses in 25-6A. Through the first two contests of the year, the Maroons are averaging a torrid 45 points per game. Austin's offense, which is averaging 500-plus yards per contest, is led by QB Charles Wright, who's thrown for more than 600 total yards, along with RB Grayson Davis, who has a 200-plus rushing yard per game average. It will be one of the first key tests for a Lobo defense that's so far allowed only 38 total points this season. But at the same time, Lehman's offense, which is trying to find consistency, could thrive against a porous Maroon defense. In the Maroon's loss to Westwood, Austin High conceded close to 600 total yards of offense; the Maroons have given up an average of 45 points per game. Look for the Lobos to lean on RB's Kanui Guidry and Keyshaun Williams, who have been a key component in keeping the offense going.
Wimberley Texans (2-0) at Canyon Lake Hawks (2-0)

Expect excitement Friday as Wimberley and Canyon Lake meet up for another installment of the Battle of the Backbone. This season, both teams look to stay unbeaten and maintain momentum gained through the first two contests. Wimberley, fresh off a late-game rally in a win over Giddings, brings a balanced offensive attack that's finding its groove. Texan QB Cooper McCollum, RB Moses Wray and WR Christian Marshall are key components for a group that's been able to make key plays in critical moments. But can the offense limit turnovers and miscues? McCollum has thrown four touchdowns, but also four interceptions, too. They'll go up against a Hawk defense that's been stingy to start the year. Canyon Lake has conceded 20 total points in two weeks, all of those scored in their one-point win over Pflugerville Weiss. Meanwhile, Wimberley's defense faces off against a run-oriented Hawk offense that will try to control the tempo of play. More than 80 percent of Canyon Lake's offense output comes from the ground. The Hawks are led by RBs Ethan Slater and Derek Wiatrek, who each have amassed 100 total yards so far this year. Wimberley's defense has limited opposing offenses to 28 points per game, 22 of those points scored by Giddings in Week 2.
Dripping Springs Tigers (1-1) at New Braunfels Canyon Cougars (0-2)

After another one-point loss to Hays High a week previous, Dripping Springs will once again try to shake off the defeat when they take on Canyon. To do so, Dripping Springs will turn to a downright stingy defense to keep Canyon's burgeoning offense at bay. In two games, Dripping Springs has given up total 35 points and has limited its opponents to less than 400 yards per game. They'll be tasked with corralling a Canyon offense that's been relatively balanced to start the year. Cougar QB Dallas Gomez and RB Sayveon Jarrett are the one-two combo guiding a Canyon offense that's amassed 600-plus total yards. On the other side, can Dripping Springs' offense find consistency? Dripping Springs' offense only put up 231 total yards against Hays, scoring 14 of its 21 points in that game in the third frame. Through two games, Dripping Springs has scored 28 total points. QB Preston Alford leads the charge with RB Curtis Cox and WR Cameron O'Banan providing support.
