Officials estimate an estimated 750-acre grass fire near Wimberley is approximately 90 percent contained, according to a press release.
Area Fire Department personnel with brush trucks will be working at the scene overnight, according to Hays County officials. The situation will be reassessed in the morning to determine if assistance from the Texas Forest Service air operations is needed again. Persons who were asked to leave their homes as a precaution have been allowed to return home, and no structures have been damaged by the fire.
UPDATE – 5:57 p.m.
An estimated 750 acres is believed to have been scorched by a grass fire at FM 2325 and Valley Springs Road near Wimberley, according to a Hays County press release.
However, no structures are believed to have been burned as a result of the fire, according to the release. Multiple fire departments from across Hays County are helping to battle the blaze. The Texas Forest Service is also standing by to assist with an air tanker for water drops.
Kharley Smith, Hays County director of emergency services, said STARFlight is assisting by surveying the area.
UPDATE – 4:33 p.m.
Hays County officials say the grass fire near Wimberley is "pretty much contained" at this time.
Hays County officials say a few homes near the area of the grass fire were evacuated as a precaution. STARFlight is on the scene and is surveying the area to get an estimate of the size of the fire.
UPDATE – 4:10 p.m.
According to Wimberley EMS officials, its believed the grass fire may have started from a spark from a tire, or a spark from a chain that was dragging on the pavement. However, officials do not have an exact cause for the fire at this time.
One nearby resident told the News-Dispatch flames reached as high as 15-feet before emergency officials began containment procedures.
According to local residents and Wimberley EMS, the fire is currently moving 15 miles north toward Blanco. However, no official statement has been released at this time by the Wimberley Fire Department.

According to Wimberley ISD officials, students on Bus 6, Route 26 are being taken to the Wimberley Community Center. Parents can pick up students from the community center.
UPDATE – 3:55 p.m.
Wimberley ISD officials have cancelled softball and baseball practice at Wimberley High due to the fire and subsequent road closures.

Multiple crews are on the scene of a grass fire that broke out near FM 2325 and Valley Springs Drive, across from the Wimberley ISD sports fields.
According to sources on the ground, the fire may have started up the road toward Blanco County. It is unknown at this time how large the grass fire is.
The Buda and Kyle Fire Departments, along with the Wimberley Volunteer Fire Department, are on the scene and are helping battle the fire.
Hays County Emergency Management is asking commuters to avoid the area and to expect delays.
