Undisclosed health issues is leading a Dripping Springs ISD board trustee to step away from the dais.

Shelly Reeves, who has served on the DSISD board of trustees since her 2010 election, submitted a letter of resignation to Board President Carrie Kroll, which was effective immediately. Reeves three-year term on the dais expires in May 2019, according to a DSISD press release.

Reeves said in a statement serving on the board has been a "great honor and privilege."

"I have always cared deeply about the quality of education offered to children of this comment and believe we have taken many positive steps to ensure that quality," Reeves said. "However, health issues have interfered with my ability to continue to serve in the manner the position deserves and I will not be able to fulfill the remainder of my term.

According to a press release, the next steps toward filling the position will be determined by board trustees at a future meeting.

"I'd like to thank Mrs. Reeves for her years of service and dedication to Dripping Springs ISD, during which time she has always put the best interests of our students at the forefront of decisions," said DSISD superintendent Bruce Gearing in a statement.
