Buda and Kyle officials are assuring residents their water supplies are not affected by the city of Austin's boil water notice, which was enacted early Monday.

According to a statement from the city of Kyle's Public Works Department, the city is "in no way affected by Austin's boil water notice." Officials with Kyle Public Works said water in the city is safe to drink.

Kyle obtains its water from several sources including surface water from Canyon Lake via the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority (GBRA), as well as groundwater from the Edwards Aquifer Authority (EAA) and the Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer Conservation District (BSACD).

Buda, which receives water from the Edwards Aquifer via the BSEACD, as well as the GBRA, is not tied to Austin's supply or treatment system, according to officials. Buda and Kyle are not under boil water notices at this time.

On Monday, Austin Water officials enacted a boil notice for the entire city, citing struggles to treat flood-affected water collected from Lake Travis, the source of its supply, according to a KUT report.
