Local paralyzed Buda resident receives a home remodel from Austin National Association of the Remodeling Industry at no cost
By Brittany Kelley BUDA — In November 2021, Michael Curlee, a Buda resident, fell out of a deer tower resulting in paralysis of his lower extremities and making his home inadequate until the Austin National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) offered a remodel at no cost.

Buda kicks off their summer event series
BUDA — The city of Buda began Arts in the Park — a series of family activities, concerts and musicals that will occur every weekend through July. This past Friday, the city hosted an array of family-friendly activities such as a foam machine that delighted kids and adults alike, as well as arts and crafts and a train.

Quilters raise money for Make-A-Wish
By Allison Taliaferro BUDA – When Kimberly and Kevin Jolly first started Fat Quarter Shop in 2003, it was out of their home. Kimberly was an avid quilter and started the business while she was still working in a corporate position and was cutting, packing and shipping out the patterns and fabrics needed to make quilts on evenings and weekends.

— Currently, the Buda Police Department is the only law enforcement agency in Hays County that does not have at least one victim assistance position, which would provide a high level of service to victims of crime in Buda. A grant could soon change that.

ESD 1 seeks approval for Prop A
HAYS COUNTY — North Hays County Emergency Services District 1 (ESD1) is seeking the voters’ approval of Proposition A — a measure that, if approved, would move the tax cap for ESD1 from the current rate of $0.03/$100 of assessed home value to $0.10/$100 assessed value — the maximum allowed by the state of Texas.
