By Brittany Kelley KYLE — Kyle City Council members discussed the possibility of a roundabout or a traffic signal at the intersection of Dacy Lane at Bunton Creek Road at its Jan. 2 meeting.

[email protected] At meetings on Dec. 5 and Dec. 19, Buda and Kyle city councils authorized funding of $2.34 million and $12.96 million, respectively, for completion of the Alliance Regional Water Authority project.

KYLE — Previously, Mayor Travis Mitchell announced the impending arrival of St. David’s Hospital at the annual State of the City address. Months later, at its Dec. 19, 2023 meeting, Kyle City Council unanimously voted to approve resolutions for development agreements for the upcoming St. David’s Hospital District and the Lake Park District.

KYLE — At its Dec. 5 meeting, Kyle City Council voted to approve the installation of additional automated license plate reading systems and heard a presentation on solutions for the mental health crisis that is ongoing in the city.

KYLE — On Monday, Nov. 20, Kyle City Council approved the purchase of three downtown buildings, as well as a Property Improvement Plan to help residents who cannot afford or are not able to make repairs to their home.

KYLE — At its Sept. 5 meeting, Kyle City Council unanimously voted to approve amendments made to the Economic Development and Tourism Board.

By Brittany Kelley KYLE — Kyle City Council held a meeting with the Planning and Zoning Commission on Aug. 29 to discuss recommendations to the 2030 Comprehensive Plan.

KYLE — During its July 29 budget meeting, Kyle City Council directed staff to look at the possibility of keeping the property tax rate the same for 2024. At its Aug. 10 special meeting, council was presented with a debt defeasance option.

— Kyle City Council discussed the proposal to increase the minimum child safety zone ordinance from 1,000 to 2,000 feet at its June 21 meeting.

— On June 6, Kyle City Council voted to approve a two-year agreement with Flock Group Inc. to install an automated license plate reading system, which was previously presented by Kyle Police Department (KPD) Chief Jeff Barnett at its April 18 meeting.

— “On both of our bridges … we’ve had people jump off of them and so, that is where it becomes some sort of responsibility to at least direct [residents to resources],” said council member Yvonne Flores-Cale.

KYLE — Bryan Langley has been named the sole candidate for the position of Kyle city manager. City council voted unanimously in a special meeting on Friday, April 13 to approve Langley for the position following a strenous search involving 69 candidates.

KYLE — While Kyle City Council was at a stalemate during its last discussion of Proposition F — a measure approved by an overwhelming 75% of voters in the 2020 election to create a police oversight committee — representatives of the Kyle Police Department and the Kyle Law Enforcement Association joined council members and city staff in a special meeting held on Saturday, April 1 to create an outline of the group’s members and functions.

— In a 4-3 reversal vote, businesses who sell alcohol in Kyle will no longer be exempt from the city’s alcohol license permit fees following the March 7 city council meeting.

KYLE — At its meeting on Tuesday, March 7, Kyle City Council voted to take the first step in providing funds to the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center (HCWC) in an effort to pay them for services used by the city.
