By Brittany Kelley KYLE — Kyle City Council held a meeting with the Planning and Zoning Commission on Aug. 29 to discuss recommendations to the 2030 Comprehensive Plan.

KYLE — Local firefighters and first responders will be showing their respects to the fallen heroes of 9/11 at 7 a.m. on Sept. 11 at Bob Shelton Stadium with the 3rd annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, hosted by the Kyle Fire Department.

Staff Report KYLE — At approximately 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 4, the Kyle Police Department responded to the 23000 block of IH-35 for reports of a welfare concern involving a male lying in the grassy median.

BUDA — At 3:59 a.m. on Sept. 5, a Buda police officer conducted a traffic stop at the 1500 block of IH-35 due to suspicious circumstances and an uninsured vehicle. While being questioned, the individual first allegedly provided false identification and then, when told to stay inside the vehicle, stepped out and pointed a gun at the officer, according to the Buda Police Department. It was then that the officer fired at the suspect and began an on-foot pursuit.

KYLE — At a special meeting held on Tuesday, Aug. 29, Kyle City Council heard details of a potential water agreement with the city of San Marcos for the second consecutive year.

DRIPPING SPRINGS — The Dripping Springs Tigers fell short against the Vandegrift High School Vipers, 27-7, in a non-district game on Friday, Aug. 25 in front of a near capacity home crowd.

— The Wimberley Texans scored in every way possible in a game of football in their home opener against Canyon Lake on Friday, Aug. 25. The Texans ended the game with a 60-6 win over the Hawks, who scored their only touchdown on a 72-yard run with 2:28 remaining in the game. After the Hawks opening kickoff, quarterback Cody Stoever set the tone leading the Texans 72 yards in 12 plays and ran the ball in for the first of three rushing touchdowns, totaling 48 yards on 12 carries.

Staff Report DRIPPING SPRINGS — Five Dripping Springs ISD students attended the 2023 Lone Star Leadership Academy, hosted by the nonprofit Education in Action, this summer. Students were nominated by educators to participate based on demonstrated leadership ability, academic success and involvement in school and community activities, according to DSISD.

WIMBERLEY — City of Wimberley officials announced that Blue Hole Regional Park will be closed for swimming for the remainder of this year’s season.
