What they’re saying: “Champion throws it between 30 and 40 times a game, so our secondary will have its hands full. We’re going to try to eat up some clock time and keep their offense off the field, so we’re really upping the pressure on our offensive line. We have a big, strong group of kids up front, and they’re going to be the key this week. We have to physically dominate them,” Lehman head coach Todd Raymond
Players to watch
Lehman: OL Kenny Higgins, S Tyler Hyss, CB Kyron Morrissette, DL Kris Hernandez, QB Josh Guerrero, QB Paul Matthews, OL Cruz Banda
Champion: QB Kyle Poeske, WR Michael Moloney, WR Spencer Jarzombek, OL Kyle McKinney, DB Jake Margozewitz
Intangibles: Lehman will celebrate Homecoming this Friday, but the Lobos hope the fireworks don’t come courtesy of Champion’s explosive offense. The Chargers put up 55 points against Marble Falls two weeks ago before fizzling in the rain last week. The young Lobos offense is still trying to figure out how to consistently move the ball and find the end zone, but they can take some comfort knowing the Chargers have allowed 35 points per game so far this season.
Hays Free Press prediction: Champion 21, Lehman 13
