Player of the Year
Taylor Stoever – Wimberley
While one player doesn’t make a team, an individual can be dynamic enough to propagate success. That was the case for Wimberley’s Taylor Stoever, whose play guided the Wimberley Lady Texans to the third round of the 4A playoffs. It’s a primary reason why we at Barton Publications name her as the 2015 All HFP/ND Girls basketball team POY. But our award isn’t the first accolade for Stoever. Her play in district led Stoever to be named as 26-4A Co-MVP this season. She was also named as an All-Region player in Class 4A. During the season, Stoever averaged 11.9 points per game, 6.3 rebounds pert game and 2.5 assists and steals per game.
Coach of the Year
Ted Dydalewicz – Wimberley
In his third year as head coach, Ted Dydalewicz has taken the Lady Texans to heights not seen in six years. Not since the 2009 season has a Lady Texan basketball team reached beyond the area round of the playoffs. The 2010 season was the last time a Wimberley Girls team won a playoff game. Dydalewicz, who navigated his squad to the regional quarterfinals in 2015, broke both barriers. The defining moments were the two playoff wins notched by the Lady Texans. That included a thrilling 65-53 win over Taylor in the bi-district round.
