Staff report
Another Hays High School student was detained today by Hays County Sheriff’s for writing a terroristic threat on a bathroom wall, according to a statement by sheriff’s office officials. The name of the juvenile was not released by law enforcement.
On April 20, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to Hays High School at 11:30 p.m. for a terroristic threat. The content of the message, according to the statement, “predicted a future violent event to occur at the school.”
Investigators were led to a juvenile suspect, who is a freshman at Hays High, based on tips and information from the public.
He has been charged with Terroristic Threat, Penal Code 22.07, which is a Misdemeanor A, and with Graffiti, Penal Code 28.08, which is a State Jail Felony.
HCSO said in the statement there is no indication of any other suspects involved in this incident.
“The investigation was a cooperative effort between law enforcement and school officials,” the statement said.
In a separate incident, a Hays High student, Dusty Williamson, was arrested Friday by HCSO and charged with False Alarm or Report, which is a state jail felony. His bathroom wall message a few days earlier said a bomb would go off at a specific time that day. Investigators received information about the incident that led to Williamson. Police said they do not believe these threat incidents are connected.
HCSO is still seeking information regarding a similar incident reported at Lehman High School on April 17. That threat, also written on a bathroom wall, indicated the person who wrote it planned to “shoot up Lehman on Monday.”
Anyone with information regarding that case should contact the Hays County Sheriff’s Office at 512-393-7896 and ask to speak with the Criminal Investigations Division or contact the Hays County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-324-TIPS (8477).
