Two eastern Hays County cities saw gains upward of 30 percent in their sales tax collections in August, surpassing the marks set during the same month in 2014.
Uhland saw the largest increase of all Hays County cities, jumping 82 percent over the collections they received in August of last year.
In August, Uhland collected $19,000. Thus far in 2015, the city has collected just over half a million dollars in sales taxes, which amounts to a year-to-date increase of 14 percent.
Overall, Hays County collected $3.6 million in sales taxes, adding to the county’s $26.5 million in collections thus far in 2015.
Niederwald held the second highest bump in sales taxes, amassing a 30 percent increase from last year.
Meanwhile, Kyle continues to see tax collections rise, as the city collected roughly $485,000 in August, an amount that equates to a 17.3 percent increase over last year.
Kyle, which has collected over $4.3 million in sales taxes thus far in 2015, is holding steady with a 22 percent year-to-date increase in sales taxes.
But August sales tax collection in Buda took a slight dip, falling two percent from the mark set in August 2014. Buda’s August sales tax collection fell below the roughly $466,663 they took in July.
In western Hays County, Dripping Springs and Wimberley continue to see increases in their sales tax collections.
Dripping Springs collected 17 percent more in sales taxes over August 2014, collecting roughly $156,418.
Meanwhile, Wimberley continues to surge ahead, gathering $63,456 in August 2015.
