Staff report
Officials have shut down the Bunton Lane and Goforth Road intersection by the Bread Basket convenience store in Kyle due to a broken gas line.
Kyle Chief of Staff Jerry Hendrix said the city received a call regarding the broken gas line at around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday. According to the city’s Facebook page, the incident occurred after a contractor hit the line. Hendrix said no injuries were reported.
A gas company along with the Kyle Fire Department are on scene to make repairs. The repair could take several hours. The intersection is expected to remain closed during that time.
Hendrix said the city also notified Hays CISD regarding the closure, as it could lead to delays with school traffic.
According to a statement from Hays CISD, all students are safe and no campuses are in danger, but that the event could affect parent’s route to pick up their students.
The closure could affect Chapa Middle, Fuentes and Science Hall Elementaries and Lehman High Schools. Parents who pick up their students from school are asked to plan an alternate route.
All Hays CISD buses, according to the district, we be routed around the intersection so “there may be minimal bus service delays.”
