A former Lehman Lobo and current Ranger College runner gained All-American honors after posting a top 20 finish at the National Junior College Athletic Assocation (NJCAA) Half Marathon National Championship.
On Dec. 1, Nicholas Wittkopp was one of two Ranger College runners who were named to the NJCAA All-American squad. Ranger College runner Ana Barbara Uribe, a freshman from Cherokee, TX, also garnered All-American honors.
Wittkopp was named to the All-American squad after his 18th place finish in the final individual standings of the Half Marathon National Championship. He completed the course with a time of 1 hour, 13 minutes and 18.80 seconds.
Only the top 20 finishers in each race were named to the 2015 All-American roster.
Wittkopp and Uribe’s performance assisted the Ranger College men’s and women’s teams to finish seventh at the meet.
As a team, Ranger College finished with a total of 79 points, which was 65 more points than South Plains, which won the national team title with 14 points. Gillette (WY) and Allen County Community College finished second and third, respectively.
