The Hays CISD Board of Trustees recognized the Buda Lions Club recently for its many years of fundraising efforts for the school. Board member Teresa Tobias read the recognition, noting that for more than 25 years the Lions Club has sponsored the football concession stands at Shelton Stadium and Barton Middle School. The organization gives 20 percent of its gross sales back to the district’s middle schools and Hays and Lehman high schools. The remaining funds help the Buda Lions give scholarships to graduating seniors in the district, as well as funding an array of other community services associated with the organization. Tobias concluded by telling the Lions she conveyed the board’s thanks “for all that you do for our students!”
Following the recognition, Buda Lions President Travis Percival, Lions Concession Stand Coordinator Nancy Handrick, and Lions Board Member Charles Handrick made their annual presentation of concession stand earnings checks to administrators of the district’s seven beneficiary campuses. The district’s five middle schools – Dahlstrom, Wallace, Barton, Chapa, and Simon – equally divided $3,821.35, Lehman High School received $5,145.40, and Hays High School received $13,003.79.
