The Hays County Fire Chiefs Association (HCFCA) is warning of a phone scam where individuals claiming to be from “an association” are attempting to collect donations over the phone for local fire departments. 

According to Kyle Fire Department Chief Kyle Taylor, the HCFCA has had “numerous reports” from people who have received such calls, with calls originating from Texas phone numbers.  

One reported number is 936-235-3514 and shows to be from the Conroe area. 

Taylor said the HCFCA is not requesting funds from anyone at this time.

“This is a scam,” Taylor said in a release. “Do not under any circumstance provide the caller with your credit card information.” 

Taylor said anyone who receives such calls should take down as much information as possible about the caller and report it to authorities.
