Intangibles: Hays got its most important victory to date last Friday night against an improved Clemens team in what was the Rebels’ most complete game played all season. The Rebs kept alive their shot at a district title, but first thing’s first – if Hays knocks off Lockhart as expected Friday night at Shelton Stadium the team clinches a spot in the playoffs. The Lions will try and throw the Rebels off balance by running the Slot-T offense, a crafty run-based design that former San Marcos head coach Bruce Bush made famous in Central Texas in the 1990s. It’s given Hays fits at times in the past, but the Rebels should have too much offensive firepower for Lockhart to handle. The Rebs take a pair of scissors to the manes of the Lions Friday night and head into their open week with the district title still on their minds.
Free Press Prediction: Hays 42, Lockhart 14
