Kyle man killed in rollover crash
A 34-year-old Kyle man was killed when his vehicle rolled over in New Braunfels on Sunday, police say.
William Allen Pelton III was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup westbound in the 1700 block of Gruene Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control after making a right turn onto Rock Street around 5 p.m., police in New Braunfels say.
Witnesses told investigators that the truck hit a small drainage culvert on the right shoulder, causing it to veer across the roadway into the grass. The truck looked as if it rolled over once before landing upright.
Pelton did not appear to be wearing his seatbelt and suffered severe head trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene, investigators say.
The crash remains under investigation.
