Hopefully the release of the 27-4A All-District football team will relieve some of the sting of the loss to Cedar Park last Friday night in the area round of the playoffs that ended Hays’ season.
The Rebels, who shared a tri-district title with Smithson Valley and Alamo Heights, placed nine players on the first team and four more on the second team.
“I’m very proud of the effort all our guys gave this season,” Hays High head coach Blake Feldt said. “It’s always nice when players get recognized for their efforts, but I always see the list and wish we had more names on there. I’m excited about the things we accomplished this year and I’m excited about the future years to come.”
Lehman, which finished the season with a winning record and two district wins for the first time in school history, had three first team members and placed four more on the second team in the tough 27-4A.

Kimbro finished the season with 2,278 yards passing and 933 rushing. He had 20 passing touchdowns and 10 rushing touchdowns this season.
Rebel wide receiver Granger Studdard, who set a school record with 41 receptions this season, was also named to the first team. He had more than 600 yards receiving and five scoring grabs this year.
Other Hays first team members were offensive linemen Boone Feldt and Reed Darragh, and linebacker Dalton Johnson, defensive tackle Kyle Cox, defensive backs J.T. Sivils and Jared Rodriguez, and special teams standout Miguel Valdez.
Hays second-team members were receiver Michael Romero, who had more than 1,100 total yards rushing and receiving and 10 total touchdowns, offensive lineman William Trevillion, defensive lineman Joel Young and defensive back Taylor Hough.
Making the first team for the 6-4 Lobos on offense was speedy star running back Levi Medley, who finished the season with 1,284 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns.
“Levi could make things happen,” Lehman High head coach Steve Davis said. “He’s one of those guys that could score from anywhere on the football field.”
Also making the first team for the Lobos were defensive lineman Kris Hernandez and linebacker Charles Williams.
Lehman players named to the second team were offensive lineman Ethan Martin, kicker Adolfo Gonzalez, defensive back Kyron Morrisette, and wide receiver Jaylon Hardaway.
“We accomplished some exciting things this year,” Davis said. “We had our largest senior class ever and I think they set a foundation for some good things to come. Hopefully next year we can take that next step and make the playoffs.”
Lehman’s honorable mention players were Kenneth Higgins, Cruz Banda, Matt Riojas, Christian Melendrez and Valentin Cantu. Ethan Martin was also named honorable mention for his play at linebacker.
Hays’ honorable mention players were Taven Mayberry, Mason Cervenka, Nate Paez, Mark Oldham and Michael Pieprzica.
Smithson Valley High running back Lawrence Mattison was named offensive MVP and Alamo Heights’ Skylar Nelson was the defensive MVP.
