Buda woman charged with beating girlfriend
An 18-year-old Buda woman was arrested for assaulting her 18-year-old girlfriend at the alleged victim’s home just east of Kyle, authorities say.
At about 4:30 a.m. on July 5, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office was called out to the home in the 700 block of Dickerson Road after dispatch received an open line 911 call on which they heard a female voice crying in the background, an affidavit used to secure an arrest warrant said.
Deputy Manuel Delarosa arrived to the scene and noticed the alleged victim at the door of her bedroom with marks around her neck while Gonzalo Rolaura Gonzales lay on the bed, short of breath, with a bruise on her right eye socket. Both females appeared to be intoxicated, the affidavit says.
The alleged victim, Gabriela Sagastegui, told the deputy that Gonzales attacked her after she asked Gonzales to leave her room. Sagastegui said that Gonzales choked her and beat her face before she picked up a baseball bat and threatened to strike her and her 67-year-old grandmother, says the affidavit, written by Delarosa.
Gonzales was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony. She remains in custody at Hays County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

On Sunday, a pallet full of casing spacers valued at $2,000 was reportedly stolen from a construction site in the 1000 block of Coldwater Hollow inside the Whispering Hollow subdivision. Casing spacers are used to ease pipeline insertion during construction.
No arrests or leads have been made in this case, Police Chief Bo Kidd said.
A man dubbed the “Blue-Ray Bandit” is suspected of stealing numerous Blue-Ray DVDs valued at $300 from the Walmart store on Thursday. Store security contacted police after the man, who is thought to be responsible for other thefts in nearby shops, left the premises.
The suspected thief, Benjamin Rubin, 23, of Pflugerville, was later arrested at another Walmart in Austin for the same offense, Kidd said.
In other thefts around town, a man was arrested for stealing merchandise worth less than $50 from Cabela’s on July 6.
