Help! We are facing a huge dilemma with the city of Buda election of three seats, just around the corner on May 14.
Mayor Bobby Lane is runnig for re-election. Mayor Lane illegally accepted pay from the city of Buda while an employee of the State of Texas for over 37 years. When this was brought to his attention, he claimed he didn’t know it was illegal and he said he only answered to “a higher power.”
He eventually paid the money back to the city of Buda after outsiders contributed to a fund raiser.
Mayor candidate Sarah Mangham is a former Finance Director for the city of Buda. The city of Buda’s audit report for Sarah’s last fiscal year, 2008-2009, found 14 major problems. This took professional auditors considerably more time and cost the city $69,000+. The following year after Sarah left her job, the audit for 2009-2010 found 4 minor problems at a cost of $26,000+. This is a tremendous difference in cost in my world. I can’t vote for either mayor candidate because I know too much!
Place 6 incumbent Scott Dodd on his webpage under “Track Record on Issues,” lists “U.S. Foods – What was the Controversy?” Is he trying to be funny? Scott Dodd has had a conflict of interest since the beginning.
David Stewart is running as a write-in candidate, Place 6. David is a retired engineer and owns his own business. He is a gunsmith, sells antique guns, knives etc. in his shop. David, his wife and dog live in Whispering Hollow. He is my choice for Place 6.
Place 5 has Dawn Schoeffer running unopposed. She and her husband have a daughter who attends Green Elementary. Dawn is a homemaker and stay-at-home mother. She is currently serving on the Planning & Zoning Commission and looks foward to serving on the council.
