STAFF REPORT
An estimated 75 exhibitors are expected at the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2nd Annual Green Living Showcase later this month, an exhibition of environmentally conscious products and services.
The showcase will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 26 at the City of San Marcos Conference Center in the Embassy Suites, 1001 East McCarty Lane.
“We believe that the showcase will not only provide an excellent marketing and networking opportunity for those members who wish to be exposed to a larger audience and are looking for ways to incorporate sustainability into their lifestyles, but it will also demonstrate San Marcos’ commitment to quality of life enhancements that will attract new residents and businesses looking at the I-35 corridor,” said Clay DeStefano, the chamber’s Natural Resources committee chair.
The event includes workshops and demonstrations scheduled throughout the day disseminating tools and resources in green building, energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, commuting solutions, alternative energy ideas and earth-friendly products.
The Green Living Showcase will open with a musical performance by the First and Second Step preschools.
Malcolm Beck, founder of Gardenville, will once again serve as a headline speaker at the event. There will also be a recycled art activity for kids to participate in.
Other confirmed speakers include representatives from the SMA Bee Wranglers, Hill Country Ecopower and McCoy College Net Impact, the second-place winner in the International Force for Change Awards competition. Organizers say more speakers will be added in coming weeks.
Media sponsors for the event include the Hays Free Press, the San Marcos Mercury, 98.9 FM and greentvtexas.com.
The event is free to the public.
