Got your wiener dog ready to run? This is the big weekend for the little long doggies to take over Buda. The 14th annual Buda Lions Club Country Fair is set to go at Buda City Park Saturday and Sunday. Along with races on both days, there will be cook-offs, bake offs, entertainment, arts, crafts, pet parade, childrens’ rides, games, food and drink booths. This year it will cost $3 to enter the park grounds for ages 12 and up, children under 12 will be free. Wear your wristband; it is free admission on the second day. Parking will be available for $5 at the lot next to Buda Post Office on Cabela’s Drive. There will be free shuttle service from the parking lot to Buda City Park from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Members of the Onion Creek Senior Citizens in Buda would like to extend their thanks to PEC for presenting them with a check for $1,000 last Thursday at a reception at the Kyle office. Other non-profit organizations from Hays County also were given checks as part of the 2011 Light the Way program.

Early voting will be held at Buda City Hall for Buda City Council and Hays CISD School Board starting on Monday, May 2 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., Tuesday – Friday, May 3-6 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.; Saturday, May 7, 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday, May 9, 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Tuesday, May 10, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Election Day is Saturday, May 14 with polls open 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, May 11 for “all you can eat” pancakes at Senior Care at Onion Creek. Cost is $5 and kids under eight eat for $3 from 7:30 until 9:30 a.m. at 1700 Onion Creek Parkway in Austin. All proceeds will benefit the Onion Creek Senior Citizens of Buda’s building fund.
