Two Kyle men arrested for assault on wife, girlfriend

WHITE

First-degree aggravated assault charges were handed to two Kyle men in separate incidents last month, police say.

On May 16, police arrested Anthony White, 26, after an apparent violent confrontation with his 23-year-old girlfriend, who he allegedly attacked inside their bedroom in the Vantage Apartments on April 23.

An affidavit used to secure an arrest warrant states that White locked himself and his girlfriend in their bedroom, pushed her into the bed frame, held her up against the wall by her throat and choked her for about 30 seconds.

The victim told police she was able to escape the bedroom and went to the kitchen to get a pair of scissors for defense. White then convinced her to return to the bedroom, where he held her down and used the scissors to cut her hair.

When police arrived, White had fled the scene. The victim had red marks on her left arm, faint bruising on her neck and more red marks on her back, according to the affidavit, written by Kyle Police Officer Tim Griffith.

Another Kyle man was arrested on May 15 after he was accused of pointing a handgun at his wife during an argument at their home in the 300 block of Peaceful Valley Road, located just east of Kyle.

After the alleged threat, Alejandro Torres Degante, 43, was pulled over by police, and a silver and gold Taurus handgun was found in the car, the arrest affidavit said.

DEGANTE

Degante’s 42-year-old wife told police her husband ordered her into their bedroom, where he brandished the handgun and threatened her with it, the affidavit, written by Hays County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Joshua Leopold, said.

Both men are charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony, which has a punishment range from five years to 99 years in prison if convicted. Degante is also charged with failure to identify, a Class B misdemeanor, for not giving his full name to police.

As of Tuesday, White remains in custody at Hays County Jail on a $15,000 bond, while Degante has since been released on bonds worth $11,000.
