Pioneer Bank pledges athletic scholarship
Dripping Springs-based Pioneer Bank has pledged to raise funds for a scholarship endowment benefiting student athletes from Hays County.
“When we heard that Texas State was joining the [Western Athletic Conference], we wanted to help make sure that Texas State University could maintain its competitive edge by utilizing local talent. As the only bank owned and operated in Hays County, we are excited to help a Hays County student athlete attend Texas State University,” said Jeff Wilkinson, the bank’s president and chief executive officer.
The bank will raise $25,000 over the next four years to fund the scholarship, Wilkinson said.
Pioneer Bank, which operates a San Marcos loan office in addition to its Dripping Springs headquarters, reports that it has $105 million in deposits which makes it the 11th largest in the Austin-area market. Deposit summaries are reported yearly to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. which said Pioneer had $77.1 million in deposits as of June 30 last year, the most recent records available.
