Odds & Ends

I don’t know if they are looking for a cool spot, surely not a warm one, but there are reports of rattlesnakes being sighted, yes quite a few. Jean Collier and Susie Carter came home to Jean’s house and found a huge “rattler” coiled up on her back porch.
Before they could find someone to kill it, it went back into the pasture. Another one was killed by a riding lawn mower near Jean’s house while mowing in a ditch. So, remove (with care) any junk, tree branches, etc. No, you should not burn your branches, as there is a burn ban on, of course you know that.

Last Saturday Logan Crowell enjoyed helping Thomas celebrate his 8th birthday at the Sunset Lanes, where a group of youngsters enjoyed an afternoon of bowling and the birthday cake.
On Thursday afternoon, a visitor from Waring, Texas surprised Raymond and Myrtle Heideman. Leonard Hohmann stopped by after getting his father’s (Walter Hohmann) discharge and Army records from his military service of WWI. He also visited the Lockhart Cemetery where his father is buried and the Live Oak Cemetery in Uhland, where his grandfather William Hohmann is buried.
Leonard is getting his father’s and his military records together to be included on the Wall of Honor and Memory in the Uhland Community Center. Walter Hohmann lived in the Rogers Ranch community during his childhood and youth and later moved to Lockhart. Thanks to Leonard and all who have and/or are working on theirs. Sure hope to hear from all who have been contacted and those who may not have (please call and say you would like to be part of this project). Believe me, we have found several we did not know were in the military; we would encourage you to call 512-398-3800.
