The Summer Reading Club will end with a big party at the Kyle Public Library tomorrow. Festivities will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 14 with prize drawings, pizza, snow cones, face painting, train rides and a moon walk.
Even though the Summer Reading Club is winding down, there is still plenty to read and do at the library. Basic Spanish classes for both adults and children started July 7 and will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. through the summer. After a brief hiatus, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes will start again on Saturday, August 13 in the usual time slot from 9:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Both computer classes and citizenship classes will begin again in August. If you’re interested in participating in any of these, sign up at the front desk, call 512-268-7411, or email [email protected].
Because the library has so much to offer to the community that it’s hard to keep track of it all, may we suggest you take advantage of the newsletter prepared by library staffer Bob White? You can sign up to receive the newsletter electronically, pick up a paper copy at the library’s front desk, or access it on the library’s website.
Many people ask about the new library, which has the official address of 550 Scott St. One of the very, very few silver linings to having such a dry summer is that there have been almost no rain delays, and construction is moving at a brisk pace. Although the construction site is closed to walk-in visitors for safety reasons, you can view recent photos on the library’s website, www.kylelibrary.com . In the meantime, help us enjoy our remaining months in the current library which has served Kyle so well over the years and has such a special place in so many hearts.
