Lehman, Hays set pre-UIL concerts
Lehman and Hays High School bands will perform pre-UIL concerts with their contest music Thursday, March 31, at the Performing Arts Center. The public is invited. Each of six bands will go in sequence through its warm-up, stage performance, and sight-reading in anticipation of upcoming UIL competition. The stage performances begin at 5:35 p.m. with the Lehman Concert Band, followed at 6 p.m. by the Hays Concert Band. Lehman’s Symphonic Band performs at 6:25 p.m., followed by the Hays Symphonic I Band at 6:55 p.m. The Lehman Wind Ensemble performs at 7:25 p.m. and the Hays Wind Ensemble concludes the evening program with a 7:55 p.m. performance.
Academy hosts garage sale
Live Oak Academy hosts its first-ever Community Garage Sale this Saturday, April 2, from 8 a.m-1 p.m. Support is welcomed in the form of donated items for sale, purchase of a booth from which to sell ($10 fee), or by shopping the day of the sale. Donations may be dropped by the Academy at 4820 Jack Hays Trail. Blanco Vista pet clinic Saturday
Blanco Vista Elementary is sponsoring a pet vaccination clinic this Saturday, April 2, 2-4 p.m., at the Kyle Animal Hospital, 100 Hall Professional Center on Jack C. Hays Trail (FM 2770). In addition to low-cost vaccines, resident vets will consult on pet health information at no charge. Vaccine proceeds benefit Blanco Vista Elementary and a portion of all April vaccine costs from scheduled appointments will be donated to the campus. Lobo boosters host garage sale
The Lehman High School Booster Club will host a garage sale this Saturday, April 2, in the student parking lot. Lobo supporters are being asked to donate any unused or unwanted items to be sold at the fundraiser. All proceeds benefit Lobo athletes, the LHS Athletic Department, and Lobo scholarships. Fuentes hosts 4th annual workshop
Fuentes Elementary School hosts the 4th Annual “Family Matters!” Parenting Tools Workshop Saturday, April 2, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Free professional advice will be offered on setting routines, targeting behaviors, gaining compliance from difficult children and using positive reinforcement. Medicaid information, parent support groups, therapists and summer camp information will all be available, as well as free breakfast snacks, childcare and door prizes. Final Listening Session set
Hays CISD Superintendent Jeremy Lyon hosts this school year’s final Community Listening Session next Tuesday, April 5, 6:30 p.m., at Pfluger Elementary School. As with previous sessions, the idea is for the public to have a chance to ask questions of and discuss concerns with the superintendent and school board trustees in an informal setting.
Kyser Relay team sets sale
The Mel Kyser Relay for Life Team is sponsoring a garage sale at Barton Middle School from 7:30 a.m-1 p.m. Saturday, April 9 and the group is asking for donations of saleable items. Members of the Hays High School Cheer Squad have scheduled a fund-raising garage sale for Saturday, April 9, 7 a.m-3 p.m., in front of Hays High School.
Kinder Round-up on April 8
Next school year’s kindergarten students are being sought for registration by the Hays CISD in its annual “Kindergarten Roundup,” set for Friday, April 8, at all 13 local elementary schools. Parents must attend the Roundup at their child’s assigned campus. A number of documents should be brought to the Roundup, including each child’s immunization records, Social Security card, birth certificate, proof of residency and a photo ID of the person enrolling the child.
