STAFF REPORT

Plum Creek Preserve on Lehman Road has not yet opened to the public — it is still under construction — but anglers periodically get a sneak peak at Lake Kyle through Kyle Parks & Recreation Department’s fishing tournaments.

One such event, a bass fishing tournament on Saturday, raised $547 for the parks department’s Kyle Fishing Clinic & Derby, scheduled for June 4. The next fishing tournament is slated for Sept. 24.

The tournament was held in conjunction with a groundbreaking ceremony for the preserve, which will feature more than seven miles of nature trails, wildlife and wildflower areas, a playground, covered pavilion and picnic areas. The preserve spans more than 300 acres.

And the winners are...
Men over 45: Roy Wright (first), Joe Gomez (second), Rex Barnett (third), Thomas Herwig (fourth), Mark Milward (fifth) and Juan Medina (sixth).

Men under 45: Jesus Escamilla (first place and overall Grand Champion),  Greg Gomez (second), Leonardo Escamilla (third), Aaron Spry (fourth), George Barnett (fifth) and Robert Russell (sixth).
