Many Buda residents are being asked to continue boiling water after a ruptured line caused a drop in water supply pressure over the weekend.
City staff have submitted a water sample for testing, but results of the test will not be available until around 10 a.m. Tuesday. The lab test is needed to determine whether harmful levels of bacteria are present in the water.
These areas of town are asked to boil their water to reduce the risk of bacteria:
- Creekside
- Cullen Country
- Old Town West of Main Street
- Bella Vita
- Creekside Villa
- Arveda Alzeheimer’s
According to a city of Buda press release, residents and businesses, including food establishments, in the above mentioned areas may be affected.
Bacteria are common throughout our environment and are not generally harmful. However, whenever a water system loses pressure for any significant length of time, precautionary measures are recommended.
Do not drink or serve water without boiling it first. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, coffee, pop or other beverages, and preparing food until further notice.
